I lend the books I buy to friends and members of my book club. There is no fee: you leave the price of a new copy as a deposit and get all of it back when you return the book. Each book collects reviews from the people who borrowed it.

How to borrow
- Pick a book on the shelf and tell me before the meetup.
- Send a deposit equal to the price of a new copy.
- Take the book at the meetup. If you can't come, I send it cash on delivery.
- Read it for four weeks and bring it back to the next meetup; you get the whole deposit back there.
The deposit
There are no lending fees, late fees, or dues. You leave a deposit equal to the price of a new copy and get all of it back when you return the book.
If the book is damaged or doesn't come back, the deposit covers it and the book is yours. Signs of reading are fine; only water damage, tears, or writing count as damage.
Stars and reviews
- 3 stars: Recommended
- 2 stars: Pretty good, not quite satisfying
- 1 star: Not really recommended
Readers who borrowed a book can leave stars and a one-line review when they return it.
Lending terms
- Lending is free: no lending fee, late fee, dues, or any other charge.
- Friends and book-club members can borrow up to two books at a time.
- The deposit is the price of a new copy and is refunded in full on return.
- A loan lasts four weeks (until the next meetup) and can be extended once if nobody has reserved the book.
- Books are handed over in person; by parcel, I send it cash on delivery and you prepay the return.
- If a book is damaged or lost, the deposit settles it and the book becomes the borrower's.
- A book with no return and no word two weeks after the due date counts as lost.
- Stars and reviews are left only by those who want to, under a nickname.
- Contact details and refund accounts are used only for the loan and deleted once it is settled.
